Pharmacy

Inquiry

The pharmacy inquiry will explore issues impacting different types of pharmacy, with a particular focus on community, primary care and hospital pharmacy services.

During a time of change and reorganisation across the health and care system, and following upheaval driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, the inquiry will assess the current status of pharmacy in England and consider what the future of pharmacy could look like. The inquiry will focus on addressing current challenges, particularly around the funding model, digital infrastructure and workforce recruitment, training and retention. Looking to the future, the inquiry will consider what innovations could have the biggest impact and what action needs to be taken now to ensure the potential of pharmacy is realised.

The Committee’s Independent Expert Panel completed a separate evaluation of Government commitments in the area of pharmacy earlier this year.
