Progress combatting fraud

Inquiry

Fraud against both businesses and individuals is a serious and growing problem in the UK. The Home Office and the National Crime Agency (NCA) are responsible for delivering many of the government’s objectives on combatting fraud. The Home Office is also developing a new Fraud Action Plan.

The Committee will question senior officials at the Home Office and National Crime Agency as well as Angela McLaren, Commissioner of the City of London Police, on the effectiveness of the government’s activity to combat fraud. This includes:

  • the government’s level of understanding of the scale and threat of fraud;
  • government’s response to date and how appropriate this is to the threat; and
  • how effective the Home Office’s future plans are likely to be.

If you have evidence on these issues including the findings of the NAO report underlying this inquiry and call for evidence, please submit here by Sunday 20 November at 18:00.

This inquiry is no longer accepting evidence

The deadline for submissions was Sunday 20 November 2022.
