Appointment of Chair of Equality and Human Rights Commission hearing

Inquiry

The Joint Committee on Human Rights held a joint pre-appointment hearing of the Government’s preferred candidate for the Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) with the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee in March 2016. Ahead of this hearing, the Committees received submissions on the following:

  • the effectiveness of the EHRC and the role of the Chair;
  • the most important issues the Chair of the EHRC is likely to face during their term; and
  • the most important qualities needed by the Chair of the EHRC
