Work and Pensions Committee to question OBR Chair and labour market policy experts

The Work and Pensions Committee is to examine the Government’s approach to supporting people in employment in a one-off session with the Chair of the Office for Budget Responsibility and other labour market policy experts.

Likely areas of questioning

Witnesses are likely to be asked about their assessment of the Government’s Plan for Jobs and how it could be improved. The session will also explore the impact of the pandemic on participation in the labour market, with a focus on how groups such as younger people, people from ethnic minorities and disabled people might be better supported.

MPs may also ask about DWP’s continuing roll out of Universal Credit and employment support for the self-employed and people working in the gig economy.
