International security and defence experts give evidence on China
The House of Lords International Relations and Defence Committee will take evidence on China from three academics.
The Committee will ask about China’s international and regional aspirations, its national security priorities, and the UK’s potential contribution to regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.
- What role does China aspire to on the regional and international stage? Does it see itself as a global security actor?
- How do China’s leaders define ‘national security’ domestically, regionally and internationally? How do they identify threats and responses?
- What mechanisms are there for security and defence co-operation in the Indo-Pacific between the US and its partners?
- Which countries are the UK’s principal partners and allies in the Indo-Pacific? What are their expectations of the UK with regard to security in the region?
