Michael Sheen to give evidence on contaminated land in Wales
Actor, broadcaster and campaigner Michael Sheen will appear in front of the Welsh Affairs Committee to discuss contaminated land in Wales following the BBC documentary ‘Buried with Michael Sheen’ which aired last month.
He will be joined by investigative journalists Lucy Taylor and Dan Ashby, who co-presented the documentary. Chair of the Welsh Affairs Committee, Ruth Jones MP, commented on the documentary noting many of the topics investigated were also explored in the committee’s inquiry into ‘The environmental and economic legacy of Wales’ industrial past’.
Meeting details
The session is an opportunity to discuss the documentary’s findings to explore what policy and legislative changes could be considered to better support communities living near former industrial sites.
The committee will also likely explore the witnesses’ views on testing and what support those with elevated levels of Polychlorinated Biphenyls, otherwise known as ‘forever chemicals’ may require.
