Airlines to face MPs as Heathrow expansion inquiry continues
The Transport Committee will hear from airline and airport representatives as it continues looking into the Government’s blueprint for a third runway at Heathrow.
The Committee is scrutinising the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement published by the Department for Transport in June 2026.
The third oral evidence session will see MPs quizzing a five-strong panel featuring representatives of British Airways owner IAG and easyJet, which does not currently fly out of Heathrow.
A subsequent panel will feature the chief executive of Edinburgh Airport, which is the 6th busiest airport in the UK.
Witnesses are likely to be asked about the strategic aviation case for Heathrow expansion and what they want to see reflected in the HENPS.
They could also face questions about demand for additional hub capacity, and what the likely effect on the sector would be of expansion either happening or not happening.
