MPs to question Attorney General and Solicitor General
The Justice Committee will hear from the Attorney General Lord Hermer KC and Solicitor General Ellie Reeves KC MP during a scrutiny evidence session in Parliament on Tuesday 23 June.
Meeting details
MPs on the cross-party committee, chaired by Labour MP Andy Slaughter, will explore issues relating to international law, immigration, asylum and the European Convention on Human Rights as well as the work of the Law Officers.
Discussion is also likely to include the Government’s VAWG strategy, reform of the Criminal Courts and public inquiries and prosecutions.
The Attorney General serves as the chief legal adviser. The Attorney General’s Office superintends the Government Legal Department, Crown Prosecution Service, Serious Fraud Office and HM Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate.
