MPs to examine findings of independent review of ICRIR
The Northern Ireland Affairs Committee holds a one-off evidence session to examine the independent review of the Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery.
The review, which was published last month, was commissioned by the Government following concerns about the operation and culture of the organisation, which was established by the Legacy Act 2023 to undertake investigations relating to deaths and serious injuries during the Troubles.
Meeting details
MPs will first take evidence from Peter May, who led the review, which was critical of ICRIR’s corporate effectiveness and financial management. He is likely to be asked about his findings and his views on the progress being made implementing his recommendations.
He could also be asked about the implications of the Northern Ireland Troubles Bill and plans to create a new Legacy Commission.
The committee will then question senior leaders at ICRIR, including Chief Commissioner Sir Declan Morgan, and Holly Clark from the Northern Ireland Office, on their reaction to the review’s findings and the actions being taken in response.
