How can the UK Government best support those with housing challenges in Wales?
On Wednesday 25 February, the Welsh Affairs Committee will hold a one-off evidence session examining how UK Government policy can best support people in temporary accommodation, in financial distress or at risk of homelessness in Wales.

The Committee will hear from senior representatives of Shelter Cymru, Cymorth Cymru, the Bevan Foundation and Crisis.
Although housing is devolved to the Senedd, several areas of UK Government policy impact those experiencing housing challenges in Wales. This includes Local Housing Allowance rates, Discretionary Housing Payments and welfare payments.
Considering over 11,000 people in Wales were living in temporary accommodation in May 2025, the Committee will likely explore what more the UK Government could be doing and the impact of policy decisions on housing and homelessness.
MPs may also ask about the housing market and the quality and variety of housing stock in Wales.
