Investment Minister Lord Stockwood to be questioned on promoting Wales for inward investment

The Welsh Affairs Committee will question Investment Minister Lord Stockwood in the final session of its promoting Wales for inward investment inquiry.

Meeting details

At 3:00pm: Oral evidence
Inquiry Promoting Wales for inward investment
Director, Office for Investment at Department for Business and Trade at UK Government
Minister for Investment at Department for Business and Trade at UK Government

The inquiry has been examining how ‘Brand Wales’ is promoted internationally, and how it can build on the investment it receives for a prosperous Welsh economy.  It has also been looking at what lessons can be learnt from success stories in the creative industries.

The purpose of the session is to explore with the Minister the issues raised so far in the inquiry, including how to strengthen the UK and Welsh governments’ partnership to promote Wales for inward investment and how the UK Government is delivering for Wales.

Also giving evidence will be Tim Newns, Director at the Office for Investment. The Office of investment, currently led by Lord Stockwood, is responsible for the UK’s investment strategy and promotion as a place to invest. Members could ask about the organisation’s priorities and how much of its resources are allocated to Wales.
