Justice Committee to hear from the Lady Chief Justice

Rt Hon Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, the President of the Courts of England and Wales and Head of the Judiciary of England and Wales, will take questions from the Justice Committee during an evidence session in Parliament.

MPs on the cross-party committee, chaired by Labour MP Andy Slaughter, will examine the work of the Lady Chief Justice and discuss key issues facing the judiciary and the courts.

The session is expected to touch upon the independence of the judiciary, Concordat process, Crown Court sitting days and the backlog. MPs will also explore judicial capacity and conduct, the security of judges as well as technology and data. Baroness Carr was sworn in as Lady Chief Justice in October 2023.
