MPs examine how governments can best support inward investment and the industrial transition for Wales
The Welsh Affairs Committee will hear from Rebecca Evans MS, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, Welsh Government, as part of two inquiries: promoting Wales for inward investment, and the environmental and economic legacy of Wales’ industrial past.
Meeting details
The session will be an opportunity to examine how best the UK and Welsh governments can work together on some of Wales’ most pressing issues.
In addition to exploring how the two governments can effectively collaborate to promote Wales for inward investment, MPs will investigate the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy in Wales, and the two recently announced AI Growth Zones in North and South Wales.
The Committee will also likely explore the Welsh Government’s views on the challenges of managing coal tips and contaminated land and how best to support development in former industrial areas. There could also be questions on the new Local Growth Funds which will replace the UK Shared Prosperity Fund from April 2026.
