The Committee will first hear from Lord Murphy, whose independent review into the workings of the Windsor Framework was published last month. MPs are likely to ask about the challenges faced by businesses trading between Great Britain and NI and the use of democratic scrutiny mechanisms such at the Stormont Brake.

Cabinet Office Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds will then join Mr Benn to take questions on the Government’s response to the review and the future of the post-Brexit trading arrangements.

The final part of the hearing will give MPs the opportunity to ask the Northern Ireland Secretary about the UK and Irish Government’s joint framework to address the legacy of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, details of which were announced in Parliament on Tuesday.

The Committee is carrying out an inquiry on the Government approach to legacy and set out the evidence taken so far in a letter to the Secretary of State in June.
