Secretary of State for Wales faces questions on how well UK Government is delivering for Wales – Wednesday 9 July at 2.30pm
On Wednesday 9 July, MPs will question Secretary of State for Wales Jo Stevens and Wales Office Minister Dame Nia Griffith as part of the Welsh Affairs Committee’s scrutiny of the UK Government’s approach and policies for Wales.
Meeting details
The wide-ranging session is likely to focus on issues including the state of public services and the economy in Wales, while there could also be questions about the ministers’ role in advocating for Wales within government.
MPs could ask the Secretary of State about the progress being made against her priorities. She told the Committee at her first appearance in January that her priorities were economic growth in Wales, protecting Wales’ steel communities, and resetting the UK Government's relationship with the Welsh Government.
MPs may also ask about funding for Welsh police forces, the potential devolution of further powers, and about how the government will deliver improvements to Welsh rail infrastructure.
There could also be questions on how last month’s Spending Review will affect people in Wales. The Committee heard this week from academics and policy experts on the possible impact.
