What do UK households and businesses understand about the costs and benefits of the clean energy transition?
In the second of five oral evidence sessions held in Parliament as part of this inquiry, the Committee will explore how the costs and benefits of the clean energy transition are understood and communicated to households and businesses across the UK.
The session will examine the effectiveness of current government messaging, the accessibility of the various schemes intended to support the transition - and how we can ensure transparency, fairness, and engagement in this complex and contested national effort to decarbonise our energy system.
Meeting details
In the first panel of the hearing, the Committee will seek a clearer understanding of how households, particularly low-income groups, are affected by the costs and benefits of the energy transition, and how this aligns with their perceptions.
In the second panel, the Committee will examine how the costs of infrastructure investment related to the energy transition are understood and communicated to businesses, and how business and industry are responding to the substantial investment in infrastructure that is required.
