Operation of the Windsor Framework: Northern Ireland Affairs Committee holds first oral evidence session
The Northern Ireland Affairs Committee will hear from industry trade groups and the NI Consumer Council in the first evidence session of the inquiry into the Windsor Framework.
Meeting details
The inquiry, which is examining the operation and implementation of the post-Brexit legal agreement, was launched last year to allow the Committee to hear from stakeholders ahead of the Government’s review of the framework.
The opening session will focus on how the framework is working for both businesses and consumers and the impact it has had on the movement of goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
MPs could ask about how prepared businesses are for planned new regulations, including the introduction of new parcel movement and ‘Not for EU’ labelling requirements.
There could also be questions on the effects of regulatory divergence between Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the role of the UK Government, EU and Northern Ireland Executive in supporting firms and consumers.
