Pre-appointment hearing: Chair of the Independant Monitoring Authority - Oral evidence
The Justice Committee will hold a pre-appointment hearing on Tuesday, 10 December for Nicole Lappin, the Government’s preferred candidate for Chair of the Independent Monitoring Authority for the Citizens’ Rights Agreements (IMA).
Meeting details
The role is subject to pre-appointment scrutiny by the cross-party committee of MPs before any appointment by Ministers. Following the session, the Committee will meet in private to decide whether to endorse the appointment.
The Independent Monitoring Authority for the Citizens' Rights Agreements (IMA) was set up to protect the rights of EU, European Economic Area (EEA) and European Free Trade Association States (EFTA) citizens, and their family members, in the UK and Gibraltar, following the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement. The role of Chair of the IMA is a statutory appointment, under the EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020, reporting directly to Ministers, but operating independently of Government.
Nicole Lappin is currently Chair of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
