Director of Public Prosecutions to take questions from Justice Committee

Stephen Parkinson, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) will take questions from the Justice Committee during an evidence session on Tuesday, 3 December.

MPs on the cross-party committee, chaired by Labour MP Andy Slaughter, will explore the work of the Director of Public Prosecutions and discuss some of the key issues facing the Crown Prosecution Service and the courts during a wide-ranging evidence session.

The session is expected to touch upon the DPP’s priorities and performance of the Crown Prosecution Service, backlogs in the criminal courts, as well as issues relating to funding, technology, data and staffing.

It will also explore the progression of RASSO (Rape and serious sexual offences) cases, domestic abuse cases and the treatment of victims, plus economic crime and charging decisions.
