PHSO report on women’s State Pension age: Work and Pensions Committee to hold one-off evidence session
The Work and Pensions Committee holds a one off evidence session on the findings of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman’s (PHSO's) investigation into complaints that DWP failed to provide adequate information about changes to the state pension age for women born in the 1950s.
Meeting details
In a report published in March, the PHSO found maladministration on the part of DWP and asked Parliament to identify how to provide an appropriate remedy for those who have suffered injustice.
Giving evidence will be representatives from WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality), MPs Rebecca Long-Bailey and Peter Aldous on behalf of the All Party Parliamentary Group on the issue, and from the PHSO.
The session is likely to explore the reaction of DWP to the findings, the various options for redress and the wider lessons that can be drawn from the experience.
Members from the Women and Equalities Committee and the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee have been invited to take part in the session.
