Safeguarding vulnerable claimants inquiry: Work and Pensions Committee to question DWP Ministers
In the final session of the inquiry, the Work and Pensions Committee will question DWP Ministers, Mims Davies and Viscount Younger of Leckie, and officials on the Department’s approach to safeguarding vulnerable benefit claimants.
Meeting details
The hearing will be a chance for MPs to put to the Ministers issues raised during the inquiry, including the question of whether DWP should have a statutory duty to safeguard vulnerable claimants. There are likely to be questions on current processes, including how the Department identifies vulnerable claimants and the adequacy of its advice and support.
The inquiry has also been examining the complaints process and how DWP learns lessons from cases it is involved with.
There could also be questions on the overall impact on vulnerable claimants of DWP policies, the Department’s culture and how it communicates with other public organisations.
