Flexible grid for the future inquiry: ESNZ Committee holds first oral evidence session
The Energy Security and Net Zero Committee holds its first oral evidence session for its inquiry examining what needs to be done to ensure the UK has the right infrastructure to deliver the energy needed in the future and support the development of renewable sources.
The session explores how a more flexible grid might help to reduce the expansion of infrastructure needed to meet future energy demands.
Meeting details
Witnesses from the first panel are likely to be asked about the market and regulatory reforms needed to increase flexibility, the role of digital technologies and how to encourage consumers to take part in demand side response (DSR) and adapt their demands in response to signals from providers.
The second panel will have a greater focus on local and community energy. MPs could ask about the benefits of a localised approach to net zero transition and the role of the local planning system in ensuring a flexible grid.
