Following changes last year by the Government to the make-up of its Departments, the Committee is set to be formally dissolved on the 26 April, to be succeeded by the Business and Trade Committee.

In the final session with the Secretary of State before the Committee’s dissolution, MPs are likely to discuss the process of the Department for International Trade becoming the Department for Business and Trade, and what implications this will have on the UK’s approach to international trade overall.

The Committee may also explore how trade deal scrutiny will be conducted in future, and the Government’s key trade priorities going forward.

Other potential topics include the UK’s accession to the CPTPP Pacific trade pact, and progress on other trade negotiations, including with India, Israel and Canada.
