Transport Committee questions Secretary of State for Transport
MPs will question Secretary of State for Transport, Mark Harper MP as part of regular questioning by the Committee on the work of the Department for Transport. This is the second session held with the new Secretary of State since his appointment in October 2022.
Questions will likely be wide-ranging in scope, covering topics including recent announcements about HS2 delays and the costs of the programme, rail operator performance and contracts, and the post-covid recovery and levelling up of local bus services. Other areas of inquiry could include rail reform, the Department’s decarbonisation plans and funding for Active travel.
The Committee will likely ask about the backlog of overdue policy announcements and the capacity of the Department to see these pieces of work through, as well as its spending, and plans for legislation.
