Benefits provision in the UK: Work and Pensions Committee to question academics and policy experts

MPs will hear from think tanks, charities and academics during a session on the provision of benefits in the UK. Questions are likely to focus on how the adequacy of benefit levels should be assessed and the factors the Government should consider when setting benefit rates.

The hearing will also explore how the social security system has evolved since the establishment of the welfare state and the implications of the increasing use of means testing.
