Is the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement contributing to Stormont impasse? MPs to question academics

MPs on the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee will question a former diplomat and academic experts on the viability of the institutions created by the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and how they can be reformed.

Lord Bew and Tim O’Connor, involved in the negotiations at the time, will appraise the effectiveness of power-sharing arrangements and their design which form Strand One of the agreement.

Following them, a panel of experts will be questioned on the public appetite for institutional reform, and how it could be achieved. 

The evidence given to this session will contribute towards the Committee’s inquiry on the effectiveness of the institutions of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement.
