Pre-appointment hearing for Chair of the Judicial Appointments Commission
The Justice Committee will hold a pre-appointment hearing for Chair of the Judicial Appointments Commission on Tuesday 6 December with the Government’s preferred candidate, Helen Pitcher OBE.
Meeting details
The Judicial Appointments Commission is responsible for recruiting and recommending appointments to judicial offices in England and Wales and some tribunals with UK-wide powers. It has a statutory duty to appoint candidates solely on merit, select only people of good character, and encourage diversity in the range of people available for selection.
In this evidence session the Committee will question Helen Pitcher on her suitability for the role and her priorities for the office. The Committee will publish a report on its findings shortly after the session.
