  1. Assessment of and support for children and young people with SEND

  1. The assessment process is varied, if the referral is made via early year providers the initial support is slightly better, however the service is varied dependent on the borough and demographic.

  1. The transition from statements of special educational needs and Learning Disability Assessments to Education, Health and Care Plans

  1. This tends to be quite slow and drawn out. The assessment is not very thorough within high school settings. You will find year 7 students are not well supported and tend to be excluded as a result of this.

  1. The level and distribution of funding for SEND provision

  1. This is also varied schools misuse the funding, they are not equipped by SEND to fully understand the needs of the individual

  1. The roles of and co-operation between education, health and social care sectors

  1. This  can be quite poor especially in non affluent boroughs.

  1. Provision for 19-25-year olds including support for independent living; transition to adult services; and access to education, apprenticeships and work

  1. This is not well organised and fairly assessed, young people on the lower end of the spectrum tend to be isolated.
