Written evidence from Parental Submission 182

1. Good evening, my son is 15 years old and was diagnosed at about the age of 9 with Tourettes syndrome, ocd, separation anxiety. He has been on medication for most of this time. It's taken us years to fight to get an Ehcp to help him. He is now 15 and going into year 11. Unfortunately  because of staff cuts and lack of understanding or the want for the LA to help him has had massive chunks missed out of education he is left feeling like nobody cares. When he was in school he was branded rude, uncooperative and demand avoidant. He was left in a room on his own every day with nothing being taught. I finally pulled him from the school but I have found he is left with out a school to go to as I've been told he's to academically bright for a special school but he didn't fit into normal mainstream either. I fear his whole school life he Bern pushed and pulled to fit into a one size fits all box. His anxiety is so high that we can not leave him on his own and have no school to help. Im concerned for his future and will help fight this very unfair system.
