Sarah Wheatley – Written Evidence (LBC0053)
I work for a user led organisation run by people with learning difficulties in Leeds. We recorded a Zoom meeting we had about the long term effects of COVID 19. It was attended by Maisie Hirschhorn, Mark Wallis, Sally Pater, Tania Woodhouse, Leanne Johns, Philip Hawley and Andrew Walsh. Three of the people have been shielding through this time because of health conditions.
People said that in the future -
- People with be kinder
- Only some people will be kinder
- More people will work from home
- Some organisation will not want people to work from home because they didn't do anything
- People will carry on walking to places
- People have learnt how to use technology and will continue to do so
- Hobbies learnt through lockdown will continue
- Some people will respect key workers more
- Friendships built through this time will continue to grow
- Most said they feared a second wave of the virus
- 1 person thought everything would go back to normal
