With reference to the gaps in the Covid-19 Job Retention scheme and Self-Employment Income Support Scheme, please find my case details below.
I had been in full-time employment for 29.5 years. I was made redundant on 31st Dec 2018. I decided to become full-time self employed on 1st Jan 2019. I had work lined up with 3 x companies to get through January, February and March 2019, which got me to the end of the 2018/19 financial year. I submitted my 2018/19 self assessment in Sept 2019. I'm all square with HMRC and have a 33 year record of my tax and national insurance. However I earned more through employment during 2018/19 tax year so I don't qualify for the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme. I remained full-time self employed through the 2019/20 financial year but Motorsport work dried up for me in Mid February 2020 due to Covid-19. I haven't had an income since then except for the Job Seekers allowance that I've claimed since the 6th April 2020. I just would like to be treated fairly and with equality to other members of the countries workforce.
HMRC have my details to back this up and I would be in a position to complete my 2019/20 self assessment. I’m currently living and providing for my Wife and Child using my savings.
