I have had several near misses with e scooters travelling far too fast on pavements near my home. I cannot say how fast they were going, but in most cases they are at least as fast as an average bicycle. There is no doubt that if one of these came up on me and hit me from behind, a serious injury or worse would happen. I have no objection to these being on the road, but like bicycles, they do not belong on pedestrian footpaths
