Letter from Anthony Habgood, Chair of Court of the Bank of England, on Lord Grabiner’s costs.
I wrote to you on 22 January to provide some information on the cost to the Bank of the Grabiner Investigation, and my letter was published on 30 January. Since then the Bank has received an Foi request from a journalist asking for "how many hours ...Lord Grabiner or his clerk billed the Bank".
The answer is 401 hours (and from this it can be calculated that Lord Grabiner was charging £1000 per hour). We will provide that information in response to the request, and as it may be of general interest we intend to put it on our FoI disclosure log at the same time. I thought I should let you know about this as the original publication was through the Treasury Committee.
