Supplementary written evidence submitted by the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (MAC0055)

1. Elections were held in England and Wales on Thursday 6 May for 35 Police and Crime Commissioners; four Police, Fire and Crime Commissioners; and three Mayors.

2. Those elected included:

Police and Crime Commissioners

• 25 men, and nine women
• Of those 34 elected PCCs, one is of Black ethnicity: Festus Akinbusoye in Bedfordshire

Police, Fire and Crime Commissioners

• Four men, and no women
• Of those four elected PFCCs, none are from a BAME background

Mayors

• Two men, and one woman
• Of those three elected Mayors, one is of Asian ethnicity: Sadiq Khan in London

The three Mayors each nominates a Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, who are:

• No men, three women
• Of those three unelected Deputy Mayors, one is of Black ethnicity: Alison Lowe in West Yorkshire

*In the 35th PCC area, Wiltshire, the elected PCC has chosen not to take office. A by-election is expected to be held in August.
