We are a small chain of 9 nurseries in the most disadvantaged areas in Manchester and Oldham border. We have 2 hubs, which any of our parents can access easily, and attended by many vulnerable children and key workers children not just from our own settings.

I would like to offer my reasons for feeling anxious about the return to opening. The nursery sector is seasonal. Especially where funding is a significant percentage. As the summer progresses attendance drops off hugely. It is very low by July and August and in the autumn term we see the lowest occupancy in the whole year. We are good at planning but I cannot see how we will be able to open all settings with all staff. Inevitably there are going to have to be redundancies.
