To whom it may concern,

It is great that the Chancellor agreed to offer some help for the self-employed, however he mentioned that to prevent fraud, this support scheme would only be open to people having submitted a return for the year 2018-2019. I have only started my freelance activity in September 2019 and therefore I am not eligible for this scheme.

I work in the film industry, 100% of my income comes from my self-employed activities and I have lost all my contract work as the result of the Corona virus outbreak. I have now no source of income and won't do until the cinemas open again.

I have called HMRC who have advised to fill out an early self-assessment return for the tax year 2019-2020. I have therefore submitted my returns and I sincerely hope these will be taken into account to prove that I have been self-employed for the past 7 months and I have lost 100% of my income due to the Corona outbreak.

I have founded a network of female freelancers all working in the Entertainment industry and 40% of us are in the same situation.

We should not be penalised nor neglected and are in urgent need of financial support.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

All the best,

Philippine Mignot
