Responding to the Select Committee Call for Evidence EHE
Our response is as grandparents observing the home education of our grandchildren over many years.
One grandchild who struggled with learning, after she left state school and was home schooled because she then had one-to-one tuition, improved well. She has now completed her GCSE’s and A levels and is now working.
Other grandchildren have completed their home studies, passed their exams and obtained employment. One is continuing in professional education. Another is currently studying for his A levels and one is still being home educated. She suffers with severe dyslexia and has been patiently encouraged and helped to progress her education. I could not think that Local Authority education would have afforded the time and dedication that home education has given her.
Local Authority inspectors have visited and always been satisfied with the education and social opportunities to share with other young people. The level of inspection as existing has been more than adequate.
Our grandchildren are responsible and well behaved; the home school environment has been a real benefit to them all.
