Written evidence submitted by Jesse Mayhand. (CCB0007)
To whom it may concern,
My name is Jesse and I am providing evidence of the conduct I’ve witnessed within courts by HMCTS admin staff and judges, which may be contributing to the backlog of courts. Poor case scrutiny by the CPS has caused many cases to be initially charged higher than necessary to the Crown Court or misleading evidence was dishonestly used to extend poor case deadlines. I have also witnessed HMCTS admin teams dishonestly cherry-picking court correspondence or ignoring serious complaints about procedural irregularities, which causes further delays or compiles initial issues.
Some courts in East Anglia use a national helpline or regional email inboxes instead of a local court admin contact, where larger court workloads are delaying quicker resolutions at quieter locations. Unfortunately, it is also evident in Chelmsford, Essex that poor conduct is occurring within their Crown and County courts. I have reported two serious HMCTS complaint references to Mr Nick Goodwin and Ms Antonia Romeo in November 2024, where I’ve highlighted evidence of dishonest admin and potential corruption concerns causing courts to not be used efficiently. If more hearings were honestly and promptly dealt with, additional hearings or reviews would not have to be scheduled, which exacerbate the current backlog crisis. Please feel free to reach out to me to receive all the additional evidence I’ve gathered of these serious issues affecting the general public.
