Non-CO2 emissions from imports

In 2021, non-CO2 GHGs accounted for 35% of our imported emissions (133 MtCO2e), compared to 19% of territorial emissions. This is partly because food and agriculture, which is very CH4- and N2O-intensive, makes up a higher proportion of our imported emissions (around 17%), compared to our territorial emissions (about 10%)

Note that there are a number of methodological differences in how the territorial and imported emissions are calculated and there is a large amount of uncertainty around the imported emissions estimates.
