Written evidence from Bolton Council ELV0145

1.              Does Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council currently have an EV infrastructure strategy? If not, what barriers or reasons are preventing Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council from developing a strategy?

The Council intends to publish a new Transport Strategy in the new year (the draft plan will go to consultation before Christmas) which will contain strategy and an action plan for assessing need and delivering infrastructure to meet future demand.

2.              What challenges Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council experienced in developing or implementing an EV Infrastructure Strategy? Is there further support (financial or other) or guidance from Government that could assist Local Authorities in developing and delivering EV Infrastructure?

Funding and changes in technology are always a challenge. It would be beneficial for Government to clearly communicate plans for the future of our roads and where focus needs to be in the short, medium and long term, with funding to support.

3.              Is Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council currently a recipient of any UK Government funding (e.g. LEVI or ORCS funding?) to support the development of EV infrastructure?

The combined city region has summitted a bid for LEVI funding and are presently waiting for confirmation on allocation and approval of procurement strategy.
