SLA Poor Accomodation
BZN
Whilst stationed at Brize Norton, I was in the 400 series block, During my time there I witnessed continuous faults with fire detection and the panel continuously sounding off keeping me awake. The room had damp and was very very dated. Towards the end of my time I had an issue with effluent fluids coming through my ceiling, I had to push for anyone to look at it let alone fix the issue, it took months to fix it.
ODI
Lysander block
I have moved into a ‘reconditioned’ block. On arrival to my room most of my furniture was in a state of disrepair. The hot water is breaking often, I had to report it 4 times over a 2 week period this year alone. We had a major power outage and had to be lodged in Brize. This then lead to regular power outages due to maintenance on the generators. There is not enough washing facilities for washing machines 1 washing machine for 18+ personnel. No cooking facilities in this or many SLA blocks. The smoke alarms in the utility rooms are not compliant. The parking is not sufficient and individuals have to transit the width of the camp for parking or many choose to park illegally.
There is no noise isolation in the block at all so its hard to unwind or relax. There is no common room either and the rooms are also tiny making it feel more like being in a prison.
