The BEIS Committee has also published correspondence today from the Secretary of State relating to this announcement.
Darren Jones, Chair of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee said:
“I’m delighted that the Government has adopted our committee recommendations to support victims with their legal costs and with interim payments, and to set up a dispute resolution scheme that is independent of the Post Office.
“Given this is one of the worst miscarriages of justice in modern times, it’s crucial that Ministers and the Post Office keep doing all that they can to ensure victims are properly compensated.”
“Lord Arbuthnot and Kevan Jones have been champions for the victims of the Post Office – Horizon scandal for many, many years. Their appointment to the Advisory Board of the Alternative Dispute Resolution scheme is great news, which I know will be welcomed by victims and their families.”
