The UK’s fiscal framework

Inquiry

The UK’s fiscal framework is intended to promote sustainable public finances. The framework includes a set of fiscal rules and institutional arrangements for monitoring the Government’s performance against those rules. The Economic Affairs Committee is launching an inquiry to assess the effectiveness of the UK’s fiscal framework and its effect on the Government’s fiscal policy. The committee has issued a call for written evidence and will be taking oral evidence from October 2025.
