Afghanistan Response Route (ARR)

Inquiry

The Afghanistan Response Route (ARR) was set up by the Ministry of Defence to mitigate the security risks arising from a data protection breach and the unauthorised disclosure of personal information about Afghan citizens which occurred in February 2022.

The National Audit Office (NAO) has published a report on the Afghanistan Response Route (ARR) to support the Committee’s scrutiny.

The Committee (PAC) questioned officials from the Ministry of Defence about the ARR and associated data breaches at its evidence session on Monday 8 September 2025. The inquiry is no longer accepting evidence.

The evidence session for the Committee’s Inquiry into F-35s included questions on the Afghan Response Route and relate to the Committee’s subsequently launched Afghan Response Route inquiry.
