UK refineries and the role of oil and gas

UK refineries have fuelled economic growth and development, both at home and in other parts of the world. However, as tripartite challenges of energy security, sustainability and affordability mean that the UK must end its dependence on oil and gas, there is a need to ensure that this transition to renewable energy is both just and equitable. This one-off session will allow the Committee to investigate how energy companies at different stages of the energy transition approach these challenges, and how the existing workforce might be best supported and upskilled.
