Back-billing by energy companies

Non-inquiry session

The BBC Money Box programme recently featured an issue with energy retailers improperly chasing customers for energy that should have been billed over 12 months previously. Retailers had been forcing customers to go through the Ombudsman, despite the clear rules and guidance.  The Committee wishes to get a consumer perspective and discover what Ofgem and the Government intend to do to stop this practice.
