Pre-appointment hearing: Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration

Pre-appointment hearing

The Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration monitors and reports on the efficiency and effectiveness of the immigration, asylum, nationality and customs functions carried out by the Home Secretary and by officials and others on their behalf.

The role is subject to pre-appointment scrutiny by the Home Affairs Committee before any appointment by Ministers. The Committee will hold a pre-appointment hearing with the Government’s preferred candidate, and then publish a report saying whether it endorses the appointment.
