This session will consider the National Audit Office report on “Progress in preventing cardiovascular disease” which was published in November 2024. The Report focused on the Health Check system which is the government’s key means for identifying and supporting people at risk of CVD who are not routinely identified by primary care.
The Committee will take evidence from local practitioners on the experience of delivering Health Check’s in their area, as well as from the department on their assessment of the effectiveness of the Health Check system and the role that this, or similar screening programmes, might play in delivering the Government ambition to shift from sickness to prevention as part of the 10 Year Health Plan.
