This evidence session will focus on the current humanitarian situation in Sudan and the various approaches being taken in response to the need on the ground. It will allow the Committee to examine the UK Government's response to the crisis. The evidence sesison will also look at the opportunities open to the UK Government as a "pen holder" in the UN Security Council for the crisis and the challenges and opportunities it faces in encouraging humanitarian access, protection of civilians and advancing a diplomatic track for a political solution.
