One off evidence session: the Brook House Inquiry

Non-inquiry session

On 19 September 2023, the Brook House Inquiry published its report and found serious issues occurring at Brook House Immigration Removal Centre including human rights breaches, deficiencies in healthcare provisions, failure to follow safeguarding rules and procedures, and excessive use of force. The Chair, Kate Eves, made 33 recommendations which she said, “need to be implemented to ensure that other detained people do not suffer in the same way as those at Brook House did”.

The Government has now published its response, and this session will examine the Government's proposed reforms and progress made.
